"One Punch Man" season 2 is expected to premiere this year. According to reports, production has officially begun, which gives media outlets the confidence that new episodes will air later this year.

Even before the first season of "One Punch Man" ended, artist Yusuke Murata promised that he will do his best to make a second season of the hit anime happen.

There hasn't been any update since, but it was rumored Murata has a massive workload for "One Punch Man" season 2, which includes sketches, storyboards and ink pages—100 of each. Editing isn't included there yet.

"One Punch Man" season 1 ended December last year. It is unclear how far along Murata and "One Punch Man" creator who goes by the pen name One were on their work on season 2.

But since "One Punch Man" season 2 is now in production, new episode may arrive later this year after all. Fans can expect an October premiere since the first season aired on the same month last year.

With regards to the plot, "One Punch Man" season 2 is rumored to introduce Saitama to his strongest rival to date—Garou. This new adversary lives for everything Saitama fights against and he can handle more than one punch by the hero.

The storyline with Garou will also involve a plot wherein the heroes are divided by a conflict, which results in a war. This will allegedly be featured in "One Punch Man" season 2 also.

"One Punch Man" is expected to be featured in the upcoming Anime Expo 2016, where Makoto Furukawa, the actor who provides the voice of protagonist Saitama, and Shingo Natsume, the director of the anime, will be guests.

Fans hope that the more details about "One Punch Man" season 2 will be revealed during the event such as possible storylines or the premiere date to get fans more hyped for the anime.

The Anime Expo 2016 will take place on July 4 to 6 at the Los Angeles Convention Center.
