OnePlus 3 release date not with red variant; Gold option coming?

Chinese smartphone manufacturer OnePlus made some buzz in the tech world after releasing their latest model, the OnePlus 3. Carrying along a sleek design and impressive specs and features, the device is without a doubt a stunner and a great option for those who are looking into getting a new handheld device.
The device currently only comes in one color. It is offered only in Graphite although the company announced that they will be releasing another option soon. It will be coming in a gold hue and will be launched at a later date. Netizens were treated to a surprise though when rumors about a red variant surfaced across the web.
According to GSM Arena, a purported render of a red OnePlus 3 smartphone was released just recently. It showed a picture of how the device would look like which is in a vibrant red hue. It became even more real when a brief listing on the company's website supported the rumors.
A third color option would have been good news, but the publication noted that a representative from the company reached out to them to officially clear things out.
They said that the listing that was found on the site was an error and that they are only going to release two colors for the OnePlus 3. Fans who had their eye on the rumored shade will have to wait another time then. Perhaps OnePlus will change their mind in the future and offer it in red after all.
For those who are interested in picking up the model, Yahoo! Tech detailed that the specs and features include a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display, a 2.2 GHz Snapdragon 820 processor with 6 GB of RAM, a 64 GB native storage space and a 3,000mAh battery. Aside from that, it will come with a 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. The OnePlus 3's suggested retail price is $400.
