OnePlus 3 update & specs rumors: Release date announced; available for purchase without invite

Good news for all OnePlus smartphone fans. The Chinese company is all ready to release to the world their latest flagship killer model, the OnePlus 3.

According to a report by N4BB, the unveiling day of the device will be on June 14 and it will be presented through a Virtual Reality event that will start 12:30 p.m. Eastern Time. OnePlus has prepared a special Loop space station just for the unveiling which everyone can expect as a unique launch experience. There is an app available for download that will allow those who are interested to view the launch in VR on their smartphone.

And unlike the company's previous smartphones, the OnePlus 3 will be available for purchase to everyone as the invite system has been lifted for good already. Even the future OnePlus products will be launched sans the invites.

The company made the announcement of the elimination of the invite system through their forum page on their official website, wherein they wrote: "With the OnePlus 3, we're officially saying goodbye to invites. It's a big step for us as a company, our fans, and fellow tech enthusiasts."

As for the specs and features of the OnePlus 3, details are still kept under the wraps but rumors and leaks have surfaced already. Retail website OppoMart accidentally posted the product page of the device on their website. It revealed specific details like the processor which is said to be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, the basic RAM count which is 4 GB and the screen size which is 5.5 inches.

Moreover, the leak also listed that the device will have a battery capacity of 3,650mAh with high-speed charging feature. There will be a premium variant, which will carry 6 GB of RAM. Storage capacity variants include 64 GB, 132 GB and 128 GB. The camera will feature a 16-megapixel rear camera while the front will have 8 megapixels. The price of the OnePlus 3 is said to be $370.
