American-British television series "Outlander" has no definite air date yet for its season 3 but fans are already getting some heads up on what to expect in the upcoming new season.

According to reports, the TV show that is based on Diana Gabaldon's historical time travel series of novels will be following the "Voyager" title. Season 3 will also pick up right after the events of the previous season.

Fans may recall that Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and Claire Fraser (Caitriona Balfe) parted ways before season 2 ended. Jamie got involved in the Battle of Culloden and ended up taking part in illegal activities later on.

In season 3, the two will reunite after a span of 20 years, but it will be a disappointing one for Claire. She will find out about what Jamie has been doing while she was gone. Spoilers also reveal that Jamie sired another child while being apart from Claire.

The couple will be encountering major challenges along the way as they try to get back into each other's arms. Fans are assured that Jamie and Claire will be falling in love all over again.

The upcoming season will also introduce the older version of John Grey. Those who read the novel know by now that John plays a big role in Jamie's life while Claire was away. As detailed in a report, the spot of the character is still vacant. The show is still casting the new character, which is said to be the priority.

The role was previously played Oscar Kennedy in the episode "Je Suis Prest." But Kennedy will be put aside for now as fans will meet the 20-year-older version of John. In a question and answer session with Heughan in Twitter, he revealed that among all the new characters that will be coming in, it's the older John that he is excited to meet.

"Outlander" season 3 is slated to premiere sometime in 2017 on Starz.
