'Persona 5' release date news 2016: Seven cooperation characters detailed

Atlus' role-playing video game "Persona 5" isn't out yet but fans who have been waiting for the sixth installment in the "Persona" series are getting some heads up already on what's to come with it.
As detailed in a report, the game will be introducing new characters. There will be seven of them and they are collectively called as the cooperation characters. Also known to be Social Link buddies, these characters can become the gamer's friend, confidant or even girlfriend if they play their cards correctly.
They can cross paths with the protagonist either in school or in the city. Aside from that, they possess special abilities and skills. Gematsu noted that building deep relationships with these cooperation characters can allow the Phantom Thief to make use of their abilities.
Developer Atlus held a livestream event for all of its fans wherein they were treated to new updates on the game including the names and description of the characters. First in the list is Hifumi Togo (Tomomi Isomura).
She is described as a student from Kosei Public High School and holds the championship titles in the Female Shogi League. Aside from her skills in playing shogi, she is also known for her beauty. Next is Sadayo Kawakami (Mai Fuchigami). She is introduced as a teacher at Syujin High School and is in charge of Class 2-B.
Another character that fans will be meeting is Toranosuke Yoshida (Keiichi Noda). He is known to be the man who gives soapbox speeches outside of Shibuya Station. Not a lot stop to listen to what he says anymore since he has already lost seven consecutive elections. But if people actually listen to Yoshida, they will realize that his speeches are actually good.
Other characters include Ichiko Oya (Yumi Uchiyama), Shinya Oda (Aki Kanada) and Yuki Mishima (Daisuke Sakaguchi). Oya is a gossip reporter while Oda is an elementary school boy. Mishima, on the other hand, is a second-year male student at Shujin High School. The last character is Chihaya Mifune (Miyu Matsuki) who is a tarot fortune teller.
"Persona 5" will be released on Sept. 15 in Japan and February 2017 in North America.
