The upcoming role-playing video game "Persona 5" was recently unveiled at this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), where it stirred up some controversy.

Apart from the hype generated by the new "Persona 5" trailer, an English-subtitled version of the Japanese trailer that came out in May, fans of the "Persona" video game series are also abuzz over the announcement that the upcoming installment will not be coming with a dual-audio track. Instead, "Persona 5" will be dubbed solely in English.

On Wednesday, June 15, Atlus USA PR Manager John Hardin addressed the backlash on Twitter, saying that the Japanese video game developer is "looking into" providing a Japanese audio track as downloadable content (DLC).

"So, once again: All we are confirming at P5 launch is English dub," he wrote. "I'm looking into the possibility of JPN vo as DLC, but no news there."

"And regarding expectations, know that is a massively steep, uphill request," he later added.

Meanwhile, Atlus Japan released three new character videos during an E3 2016 livestream this week. One of the new characters is Goro Akechi, a new party member who is said to be a high school student and a detective.

The other new characters are called "Cooperative Characters," who will help the protagonists and their friends out with their various skills and abilities once their trust is gained via "Co-Op" relationships. They are Munehisa Iwai, Tae Takemi, and Sojiro Sakura.

According to Siliconera, the next event for "Persona 5" will be held at the Tokyo National Museum on July 19. At the event, players will get to see the final version of the game before it is released in Japan on Sept. 15 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3. The Tokyo event will be livestreamed on Niconico.

"Persona 5" will be available in North America and South America on Feb. 14, 2017.
