PlayStation Plus August 2016 free games news: 'Tricky Towers,' 'Yakuza 5' and more

Sony

The PlayStation Plus Games for August 2016 has finally been announced. As usual, there will be six free titles in total–two for each platform.

Thanks to PS Plus Games, PlayStation 4 players won't have to spend anything to get "Tricky Towers," a new physics-based puzzler by WeirdBeard Games.

It will be released on Aug. 2, but PS Plus Games members won't have to worry about purchasing the game as it will debut for free to the program.

"Tricky Towers" is all about stacking a tower as opponents try to stop gamers in doing so. To be able to fend off these foes, players can cast spells on them. Sony describes it as "fast, fun, and addictive" and the best part is it can be played with friends.

The next PS Plus Games freebie for PS4 players is "Rebel Galaxy" a space combat role-playing game (RPG) by Double Damage, which allows players to experience trade, be a work-for-hire mercenary or a swashbuckling pirate and drive a massive destroyer.

For PS3-rocking subscribers of PS Plus Games, they will get this month "Yakuza 5" and "Retro/Grade." The former is an open world action-adventure video game released by Sega back in 2012.

The latter is a rhythm game that follows an ace pilot named Rick Rocket tasked to protect the space-time continuum in a world where time flows backwards.

Players of the PS Vita are not forgotten, of course, with PS Plus Games endowing them with two titles. The first one is another rhythm game – "Patapon 3" from developer Pyramid.

Rounding up the list is "Ultratron," which allows players to experience "addictive gameplay of old-school arcade favorites." It will be free not only for the PS Vita but also for the other two consoles.

Before these games go live, PS Plus Games members should make sure to pick up the free games for July, which include "Saints Row: Gat Out of Hell" and "Furi."
