'Pokemon Go' Buddy System tips and tricks: Pikachu Easter egg and getting candy
Niantic has started rolling out its latest update for "Pokemon Go" and players all over the world are checking it out. The Buddy system is all the rave now as trainers figure out how to get the most out of the new feature. Just like the other systems in the game, it can be a little tricky.
For those who are not in the loop yet, the Buddy system allows trainers to have one of their Pokemon follow them around outside of its Pokeball. It is inspired by the anime TV series wherein protagonist Ash walks around with Pikachu wherever he goes.
According to reports, the most notable advantage to having a Pokemon buddy is the candy. Whenever a certain distance checkpoint is hit, gamers get candy. It is not very far from the concept of hatching eggs, which means gamers will have to grab their sneakers and start walking around more if they want to get candy for their Pokemon buddy.
Those who are planning to start out with Pikachu will be able to evolve him easily. A source noted that Pikachu only requires 1 kilometer (km) per candy. Walking with it will hasten the progress of evolving it to Raichu. On the other hand, difficult Pokemon monsters will require 5 km.
An Easter egg awaits those who are planning to have Pikachu as a buddy. As detailed in in a report, gamers can create a closer bond with Pikachu by walking a total of 10 km. Reaching that point will allow Pikachu to sit on the trainer's shoulder just like in the anime series.
Now to assign a Buddy Pokemon, one will only simply have to go to the trainer's profile after downloading the update of the app. By clicking on the Buddy menu button, players can select one from the roster of monsters caught.
Unfortunately, reports said that the update is not available for iOS users yet. But there's a trick that they can do to get a Pokemon Buddy right now. Heavy noted that iOS gamers can log in to an Android device to assign a buddy. Afterwards, they can return to their iOS device. This will enable the app to take note of how far the user has walked and can appropriate the corresponding amount of candy.
