'Powerpuff Girls' season 2 news 2016: Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup to return for another season

Fans will be seeing more adventures of Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup as they save Townsville from evil with Cartoon Network officially renewing "Powerpuff Girls" for season 2.
Cartoon Network CCO Rob Sorcher revelled in the successes of the revival, which just premiered back in April with updated animation, as he broke the news about the "Powerpuff Girls" season 2 renewal.
"The Powerpuff Girls is on a momentous run with its first Emmy nod, a debut appearance at one of the biggest fan events of the year, and now a second season greenlight," he said in a statement picked up by Entertainment Weekly.
"Congratulations to the Cartoon Network creative teams who have super-powered this property with the perfect amount of Chemical X to bring a hit show for a new generation of fans," he continued.
Sorcher was referring to the big win of the "Powerpuff Girls" revival at the Emmy for Outstanding Short Form Animated Program, proving that the adorable Townsville heroes haven't lost their flair a decade since they were on television.
Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup were introduced back in 1998. The animated series, which has grown to become a household name and fan-favorite ever since, ran until 2005.
Earlier this year, the Powerpuff Girls returned to the small screen with new stories and an updated aesthetic. From the reboot's achievements, it was not a shock "Powerpuff Girls" season 2 happened.
Bustle says that the "Powerpuff Girls" reboot definitely attracted a new generation of fans, but also refuelled the love of fans of the original.
With regards to the premiere date, "Powerpuff Girls" season 2 might still be a long way off. Since the first season premiered last April, the second season might not premiere until the same month next year.
With that said, there is also no information at hand when it comes to the plot for "Powerpuff Girls" season 2.
