'Prison Break' season 5 premiere date news 2016: Series set for April 2017 launch

"Prison Break" season 5 is still quite some time away from returning to the small screen but it cannot be denied that the series is highly anticipated. The series revival has been making a lot of buzz ever since it was announced that it's coming back along with some of the original characters.
The cast once again includes Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) who was presumably killed off in the season 4 finale in 2009. Even before the revival was confirmed, several already questioned how it can return when Michael is already dead.
But season 5 is going to shake things up and bring a whole new storyline that will have fans scratching their heads as it's only going to get trickier and more mind-boggling from here. This also the reason why the show is deemed to be "20 times more anticipated than all the other new TV shows," as cited by The Independent.
Main star Dominic Purcell, who plays Lincoln Burrows, took a screenshot of the headline and posted it on his Instagram account. He wrote in his caption: "I'm humbled as I'm sure the cast are; to be a part of this incredible tv drama and #international #phenomenon."
ListenFirst Media's also proved the great hype surrounding the show through research. It cited that the series was able to garner 19.5 million social media engagements from the months of May to August. The number is a huge gap from the second most anticipated series, "This Is Us," which garnered only 1.56 million engagements. The third runner-up is the "MacGyver" reboot with a 558,073.
It is really no surprise though that the series is highly anticipated. Its previous four seasons have been popular on their own for such genius and thrilling storylines. Its return only indicates that a lot miss watching the show.
There is no specific release date yet but "Prison Break" season 5 is expected to hit the small screen by April 2017. Fans must keep watch for more updates.
