'Prison Break' season 5 release date news: Revival to air in September

"Prison Break" season 5 will premiere in September, according to Fakhar Tarin, who is playing a new character named Jamil in the continuation of the story of Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell).

Announcing his casting on Facebook, Tarin also gave fans information as to when "Prison Break" season 5 will be out by saying that the show "is expected to air from September 2016."

"Prison Break" executive producer Vaun Wilmott confirms this on his Twitter account, where he consistently posts updates on the production, including a photo of Sarah Wayne Callies, who will be back as Sara Trancredi, doing a take.

Wilmott teases in almost every tweet that "Prison Break" season 5 will premiere in 2016, but he does not go beyond that.

However, with the production ongoing and the first cut of the first episode now done (with series creator Paul Sheuring very happy about it), a September 2016 premiere is very likely.

Prior to Tarin's revelation, FOX had not announced a premiere date for the new season of the beloved series, especially after schedule issues with production. This pushed many to believe that the show might not arrive until next year.

With the main cast members busy with other projects, it was a challenge for FOX to find the right timing to start filming. In the end, the network managed to do so and the production is now well underway.

In the finale of the show back in 2009, Scofield was killed off. Miller's return suggests that he is not dead after all. In fact, he is in a prison in Yemen, where he meets Tahir's character.

Learning this, Lincoln and Sara promptly spring into action to get him with the help of some familiar faces â€” T-Bag (Robert Knepper), C-Note (Rockmond Dunbar) and Sucre (Amaury Nolasco). Paul Adelstein is returning as Paul Kellerman in "Prison Break" season 5.
