William Fichtner may not reprise his "Prison Break" role as Alexander Mahone in "Prison Break" season 5. His character is closely connected to Paul Kellerman (Paul Adelstein).

Fans were hoping that Fichtner will be back for the revival, but this may not be the case. According to new reports, he will not return for "Prison Break" season 5.

Fichtner's role was intended to be in the second and third seasons of "Prison Break." The actor only needed these two runs to make his character a fan-favorite.

He ended up appearing in the fourth season after producer Matt Olmstead persuaded him. However, Fichtner is reportedly no longer up for a "Prison Break" season 5 appearance.

Filming for "Prison Break" is well underway, but there hasn't been any mention of him being on the set and filming with his co-stars. Fichtner is currently in the television series "Mom," where he was promoted to a series regular for the next season.

The actor is also currently filming an upcoming comedy-drama film titled "Krystal," where he stars opposite Rosario Dawson. With that said, Fichtner's schedule might be too hectic to squeeze in "Prison Break" season 5.

Alexander Mahone is a fan-favorite character who made it his top mission to expose the truth about Kellerman and put him behind bars. Kellerman was confirmed to return to "Prison Break" revival.

"Prison Break" season 5 will only have nine episodes. According to the writers, "you might see a flashback or two" in the revival.

In "Prison Break" season 5, Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) is revealed alive but is in prison in Yemen after refusing to continue his affiliation with a terrorist group.

His brother Lincoln (Dominic Purcell) will fly there with the help of some old friends to break him out of prison. The rest of what happens will remain a mystery until "Prison Break" season 5 premieres on FOX by spring 2017.
