'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date: August announcement expected

"Red Dead Redemption 2" may finally be close to its official unveiling. According to the latest reports, Rockstar Games will finally make the sequel official this August at Gamescom.
Rockstar's parent company Take-Two Interactive has announced its participation in the event, pushing many to believe that the long-awaited "Red Dead Redemption 2" announcement will finally happen.
Take-Two has not detailed its plans for Gamescom, although many believe that the company will finally launch the highly anticipated western action-adventure shooter there.
However, media outlets warn that there are other games in Take-Two's lineup that the company could focus on at the convention.
There's the newly introduced "Bioshock Collection," "Mafia 3" and even its 2K Sports releases, "NBA 2K17" and "WWE 2K17." With that said, fans are advised not to expect too much about this possible Gamescom reveal.
This is also because Take-Two itself has not shared details on what they will be up to at the event. They haven't hinted a "Red Dead Redemption 2" unveiling as well.
Should the game is indeed Take-Two's surprise for fans at Gamescom, it will make sense for the company to keep things on a lid for a bigger impact. And if it all goes the way fans hope, a trailer might even be showcased.
More "Red Dead Redemption 2" release date rumors have emerged following the frustrating absence of the game in this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) 2016.
Tons of speculations and leaks flooded the web leading up to the said convention, but to the disappointment of many, Take-Two did not reveal, let alone speak about the game.
Earlier this year, Take-Two teased that Rockstar is "hard at work" in making its next game and that the said title will be released "soon."
It was taken to mean that the game in question is "Red Dead Redemption 2" and that "soon" meant E3. Now, it appears that a big reveal might actually happen at Gamescom.
The event is scheduled Thursday, Aug. 18 to Sunday, Aug. 21 at Cologne, Germany.
