'Red Dead Redemption 2' release date news 2016: Expected at E3; rumored gameplay revealed

The open world, western action-adventure video game "Red Dead Redemption 2" is a sequel that many have been waiting for. Fans have been on the constant lookout for updates regarding its release.

However, there is no firm confirmation from Rockstar Games yet on when the game will come out. Many are hoping, though, that it will finally be unveiled during the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) event this coming June 14 to 16.

According to Segment Next, a new listing appeared under the game's section of their website. It's a list of all the game in the series, including the "Red Dead Redemption," "Red Dead Undead," and "Red Dead Revolver."

A fourth one was spotted, except that it didn't have a photo with it and it had a placeholder text that read "hiddentext." It also cited a link to a website but it's non-functional. It was later on removed but fans are speculating that it must have been the sequel. Some are hopeful, while some believe that it was just an error.

Express also noted that Rockstar has been provided as part of the E3 list. This led several to think that the gaming company is going to reveal a game for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 (PS4) owners. However, since none has been confirmed at all and Rockstar remains to be tightlipped about the matter, fans will just have to wait.

There are still reasons to be excited, though. Rumors suggest that "Red Dead Redemption 2" has been in development for some time already. Reports have detailed that a Reddit user previously leaked information about the sequel. The user said that the game is titled "Red Dead Redemption 2: Legends of the West" and will feature new characters named Seth and Irish and a third customized character.

For the moment, fans will just have to watch out for official announcement from Rockstar.
