Capcom's "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" is still far from its actual release date but that doesn't stop fans from getting the latest updates and details of what's to come along in the game.

According to IGN, the title made a debut during Sony's E3 2016 press conference and released the demo "Resident Evil 7: The Beginning House." Several fans checked out the demo to play and while it is completely unlinked to the full game that will be released next year, fans were able to get some hints on what the game will possibly be like.

For instance, regarding the storyline, many guessed that the game's lead developers have ditched the zombie-slaying element and replaced it with a ghost story. This observation was based on what the playable demo and the announcement trailer depicted.

It elicited reactions from fans who said that the developers have made the game some sort of "supernatural, occult, ghost story." However, according to director KÅshi Nakanishi's explanation in the Capcom Unity blog post, they have not gone to that direction at all.

"I think you can look at the trailer or the demo and get that impression, but don't worry, we haven't just thrown out 'Resident Evil' as it exists and turned it into a ghost story," stated Nakanishi. "It will all make sense in the end," he added.

As for now, they are keeping the details under wraps in order to bring a game that everyone can fully enjoy upon its release. They are also keeping the identity of the protagonist a mystery. No details have been released about it but they did give a hint at what the character will be like.

Producer Masachika Kawata divulged that they have ditched the experienced zombie killer for an ordinary protagonist. This means that gamers will not be playing in a first-person perspective as a hero who is equipped or powerful. Instead, Kawata said it's just going to be a "powerless, ordinary person." This is meant to bring forward a full horror experience to players.

"Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" will be released on Jan. 24, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
