"Rick and Morty" season 3 will likely air around the end of the year despite various reports saying that the show will debut its new season this month.

Although Adult Swim has not announced an official release date for the third season of its popular animated sci-fi sitcom, various media outlets have reported that "Rick and Morty" season 3 could begin airing new episodes this month. An article on ComicBook.com, which has since been deleted, even pegged the premiere date as Tuesday, July 26.

However, as "Rick and Morty" fans on Reddit have pointed out, a July 26 release date is unlikely, given that it was only days ago that the official "Rick and Morty" Twitter account announced the beginning of recording for the show's third season.

"July 26 is the date last season started," a Redditor pointed out in a discussion on the "Rick and Morty" subreddit. "[B]ecause based on how recent that RECORDING FOR SEASON 3 tweet was, a July 26 date is probably infeasible."

As of this writing, the closest thing to an official season 3 premiere date announcement fans have is still "Rick and Morty" creator Dan Harmon's statement during the Magic City Comic Con back in January.

"I think Season 3 is — we're targeting around the end of this year," Harmon told the crowd at the event, as quoted by iDigiTimes. "You guys do realize we're at the beginning of this year?"

Aside from the projected season 3 premiere date, Harmon also announced during the convention that season 3 will consist of 14 episodes, three more than the show's freshman season and four more than the sophomore season.

Meanwhile, another tweet by the "Rick and Morty" official Twitter account sent fans into a speculation frenzy in June.

"There you go — the wait for season 3 is now 30 mins longer! Back to work for us," the post read.

Many fans took this to mean that the highly anticipated "Rick and Morty" season 3 premiere date is being pushed back. Others, Movie Pilot said, took it to mean that the show is being lengthened into hour-long episodes instead of the usual half-hour installments.

Adult Swim has yet to announce the official premiere date for "Rick and Morty" season 3.
