Samsung Galaxy C9 specs rumors, news: Device may be similar to the Galaxy C5 but with 6-inch display

Samsung is said to release another new device in their C-series lineup, and it's dubbed as the Galaxy C9. It's rumored to be a follow-up of the recently release Galaxy C5 and Galaxy C7.

According to reports, the purported Samsung Galaxy C9 comes with the model number SM-C9000 and is codenamed as Amy. Unfortunately, apart from those pieces of information, not a lot is known about the smartphone. There are several speculations, though, as to what may possibly come with the third model of the C family.

The device is speculated to be an upgrade of the two predecessors. While the Galaxy C5 comes with a 5.2-inch full HD Super AMOLED display, the Galaxy C7 sports a 5.7-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen. This could hint that the Galaxy C9 will be bigger. It could potentially come with a 6-inch full HD Super AMOLED display.

It's also predicted to be designed with a metal built just like the C5 and C7. And since it's going to be an upgrade, better specs compared to the C7 is expected in the C9. The C7 is noted to be equipped with a Snapdragon 625 chipset and a 3,300mAh battery while the smaller model came with a Snapdragon 617 chipset and a 2,600mAh battery.

Given this pattern, the alleged Galaxy C9 could come with a Snapdragon 650-series chipset with a battery capacity that is close to 4,000mAh. It's also speculated to come with 4 GB of RAM, an 8-megapixel front camera, and a 16-megapixel rear camera just like the C7.

And since Samsung previously mentioned that they have plans to include an iris scanner to its mid-range lineup, the C9 could be the first mid-range smartphone to own it. But none of the details that swirled around are official or confirmed yet, so it's best to take reports with a pinch of salt.

As to when might the Galaxy C9 arrive, interested Samsung fans will have to stay tuned to find out if the rumored device will be released outside of China since the C5 and C7 are limited to the the Chinese market for now.
