Samsung Galaxy J2 (2016) release date, specs news update: Launched in India; Handset features Smart Glow notification ring
The Samsung Galaxy J2 (2016) has finally made its way out of the rumor mill. The smartphone is now official and the leaks that were released earlier were right about Samsung's new unique feature which is the Smart Glow notification system.

According to reports, the device first launched to the public in India. It's a standard mid-range handset but it is the first to carry the South Korean tech giant's Smart Glow which makes use of a ring of LED light placed around the rear camera.
Its function is basically the same with the standard notifications LED that is placed in the front panel in most Samsung devices. Apparently, the Smart Glow is just a bigger version and is more attention-grabbing whenever there is a notification.
It lights up according to the color that the user assigns, which means they can color code their contacts, apps and phone usage alerts, giving them more specific notifications without having the need to unlock the screen.
Reports also detailed that the new feature can warn the user whenever the device is running low in battery or if storage space is almost full. Moreover, it can also be of use in taking selfies with the 8-megapixel rear camera. With the Selfie Assist feature, it will detect the face and glows blue to let the user know that the phone is ready to snap the photo.
Aside from that, the device is also said to be packed with Samsung's Turbo Speed Technology, which is a feature that makes the device work more efficiently. The new model of the Galaxy J2 is also bigger in screen size, which is now 5 inches, and has a 5-megapixel front camera. It is pre-installed with Android 6.0 Marshmallow and comes with a 2,600mAh battery.
The Samsung Galaxy J2 (2016), which is now available for purchase in India, is priced at around Rs. 9,750 or $145.
