Samsung is at the top of the rumor mill again for its next phablet device, the Galaxy Note 7. There are no official details regarding the big handset yet but there are leaks and rumors circulating around for some time already, giving fans some early heads up on what to expect with the successor of the Galaxy Note 5.

The latest to hit headlines is the release date of the device. According to Sammobile, the next Galaxy Note will have two variants. One will be the Note 7, while the other one will be the Note 7 Edge which is said to have a curved-edge display. The publication stated that they have received an image from a tipster indicating that either of the devices will be unveiled during the Galaxy Unpacked 2016 event on Aug. 2 at the Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center in New York.

The image released is not official so it's important to take reports with a pinch of salt. Nonetheless, there's only a few weeks more left until the indicated date. If it turns out to be true, it means that the Note 7 or the Note 7 Edge is almost here.

As for the specs and features, rumors suggest that the device will be sporting a 5.8-inch Quad HD display. It's a bump up from the previous models like the Galaxy S7 Edge which carried a 5.5-inch screen and the Note 5 which had a 5.7-inch display. Under the hood, one will find a Qualcomm Snapdragon 823 chipset paired with Adreno 530 graphics and 6 GB of RAM.

Techno Buffalo also detailed that the smartphone will have a 12-megapixel camera with f/1.7 aperture and upgraded photography software. An iris scanner is also expected as well as a fingerprint scanner. For those who are wondering why Samsung has skipped a number on the moniker, reports say that Samsung is syncing it with the Galaxy S series.
