Samsung Galaxy Note 7 release date, specs news update: New Knox 2.7 for improved security

The wait for Samsung's next Galaxy Note device is almost coming to an end. The Galaxy Note 7 will be available for pre-order soon.

According to reports, the device will be sold starting Aug. 19 in the U.S. Priced at $849, it will be offered by carriers like T-Mobile, Verizon, Sprint, AT&T and U.S. Cellular. It will also be available at Amazon, BestBuy, and other online retailers.

The device is also set to be launched globally. It will be available in the United Kingdom, China, and India on Sept. 2. Meanwhile, Korea, Canada, and Australia will also have the Note 7 starting Aug. 19.

Latest update from the South Korean tech giant revealed that the Galaxy Note 7 will feature an updated mobile security solution. As detailed in Samsung's blog, the device has been equipped with Knox 2.7, which is the latest version of Samsung's mobile security technology.

With the inclusion of this feature, the device will provide better protection of users' mobile information. Convenience is also guaranteed due to this advanced security offer. It's detailed that the Knox 2.7 comes with Call Flow Protection defense which provides the smartphone better core kernel security.

The Knox 2.7 has also made use of the device's iris scanner to provide a whole new level of security. With more secure and accurate protection, the feature can be useful for unlocking and accessing the Knox container.

There's also a Secure Folder, a "separate, encrypted folder" that allows users to keep away private apps and sensitive files. There's still a lot more from the Knox 2.7, but the bottom line is that the mobile security solution is offering more protection and versatility compared to its predecessor.

Samsung Galaxy Note 7 will be sporting the same 5.7-inch curved, super AMOLED display and quad HD resolution. It will feature a dual 12-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera. Under the hood will be a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 chipset with 4 GB of RAM.
