Samsung Galaxy S6 vs iPhone 6 Specs, Price and Features Review: Comparison Shows Many Similarities, Many Differences

With the release of the Galaxy S6, many industry pundits have commented that it should have been released last year instead of the plastic-clad Galaxy S5. The Galaxy S6 is also being compared to the iPhone 6, with many sources saying that the Galaxy S6 has copied several features of the Apple phone.

Design

The similarities between the Galaxy S6 and the iPhone 6 are noticeable in their design, as both phones have rounded metal frames and similar plastic antenna strips. However, the iPhone 6 has a full metal body while the Galaxy S6 only has a metal frame with Gorilla Glass 4 on its front and back panel.

Display

The iPhone 6 has an IPS LCD screen measuring 4.7 inches with a resolution of 750 x 1334 pixels and a density of 326 pixels per inch while the Galaxy S6 has a Super AMOLED screen measuring 5.1 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels and a density of 577 pixels per inch.

Features

Much like the iPhone 6, the Galaxy S6 has a touch-type finger print scanner. However, the Galaxy S6 also supports two wireless charging standards which the iPhone 6 does not have. The Galaxy S6 also has Samsung Pay which, according to the company, will be compatible with 80 percent of U.S. retailers.

Specs

On the iPhone 6 is a Apple A8 chipset, coupled with a dual-core 1.4 GHz Cyclone CPU and PowerVR GX6450 GPU, while the Galaxy S6 has an Exynos 7420 chipset, quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 & quad-core 2.1 GHz Cortex-A57 CPU and Mali-T760 GPU.

Camera

The Galaxy S6 has a 16 megapixel camera on its rear with optical image stabilization. It also has a number of other features such as face detection and auto HDR. As for the iPhone 6 it has an 8 megapixel version as it rear with phase detection autofocus.

Memory

In a major departure, the Galaxy S6 does not have a microSD slot, which is also missing on the iPhone 6. As for RAM, the Galaxy S6 has 3 GB while the iPhone 6 has 1 GB.

Price

The 32 GB Samsung Galaxy S6 could cost $699 off contract, while the off contract price for the 16 GB iPhone 6 is $649.
