"Scandal" star Kerry Washington has spoken about how her pregnancy will affect season 6 of the hit ABC series when it comes to the direction of the story.

"As far as I know, we're going to be hiding things," the actress told E! News. She then urged fans to "stay tuned" as to what happens next to her character Olivia in "Scandal" season 6.

As per the aforementioned site, it is highly unlikely that "Scandal" season 6 will write in Washington's pregnancy in the story. After all, the upcoming season will only have 16 episodes instead of 22.

"Scandal" season 6 was also to midseason, which is presumably done to accommodate the star's pregnancy with her second child and maternity leave.

When Washington was pregnant with her first child with her husband Nnamdi Asomugha in 2014, the episodes of the third season of "Scandal" were down to 16 as well and her baby bump was hidden.

For "Scandal" season 6, it is expected that Washington's growing tummy will be concealed by strategic camera angling and prop placement as well as selection of outfits that will best hide the bump.

When news about Washington's pregnancy first bounced online, "Scandal" fans thought that Olivia's storyline will reflect what was going on with the actress in real life.

There were rumors that Jake will be revealed as the father of Olivia's would-be baby if "Scandal" season 6 decides to integrate the pregnancy storyline for this season.

Not only will it make fans of the pair extremely ecstatic, it also makes sense after they appeared to have declared their feelings for each other and also made love.

Since pregnancy isn't going to be a thing for Olivia in "Scandal" season 6, there will be a chance for her and Fitz's (Tony Goldwyn) romance to bloom this season, unless of course Jake decides to win back Olivia too.

"Scandal" season 6 is expected to premiere around January 2017.
