British-American crime drama "Sherlock" is currently on hiatus but it will be back for its fourth season. It's still a long way to go until the return of the mystery detective Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) but as usual, fans are getting some heads-up about the new season via the rumor mill.

One particular rumor said that in season 4, Holmes will be running around town drug-free. He has been using drugs in the previous season because it helped him achieve mental state as well as focus in entering his mind castle. But speculations suggest that it will no longer be the case in the fourth installment.

Holmes' former nemesis, Professor James Moriarty (Andrew Scott), has returned which means he has to shape up and think straight if he wants to defend himself and stay alive. He will need to be drug-free if he's going to deal with the adversary and protect himself as well as his best friend and assistant Dr. John H. Watson. Otherwise, they could end up being a cold and stoned body. There is no confirmation to this plot, though, so it's best to take reports with a pinch of salt.

Meanwhile, other rumors suggest that "Thor" star Tom Hiddleston is joining the cast to play the role of Holmes' brother, Sherrinford. As detailed in a report, Hiddleston's name got linked to the show's new season when series creator Mark Gatiss previously mentioned his name as the latest one to join the cast.

But since none of it is confirmed, the information remains as a rumor. There are even reports saying that Hiddleston is not going to play the role as the brilliant detective's third brother because of his tight schedule. The 35-year old has other project commitments including "The Avengers" and "Thor" movie franchises. Aside from that, he is also rumored to be the next lead for the James Bond film.

Fans will have to stay tuned for "Sherlock" season 4 to find out if Hiddleston will be part of the show or not. It is expected to air sometime in January 2017.
