'Sleepy Hollow' season 4 spoilers: Abbie could still make occasional appearances in new season

"Sleepy Hollow" is now in hot water following the heartbreaking fate of the show's female lead character, Abbie Mills (Nicole Beharie). Fans are even threatening to avoid "Sleepy Hollow" season 4.

Tom Mison, who plays the role of Ichabod Crane in the series, knew that it was a very risky move for the show. This is also why, the actor believes, the death becomes more meaningful.

"It comes to symbolize so much more. So when something like this happens, when they kill off said character, of course it's going to mean an awful lot more, consequently," Mison told E! News.

However, the flak towards the absence of Abbie in "Sleepy Hollow" season 4 reportedly got so bad that the show won't have a panel at the San Diego Comic-Con.

Although this rumor is yet to be confirmed, "Sleepy Hollow" season 4 might lose some viewers following Abbie being out of the show. Some hope that this is simply an elaborate trick and that she will be back soon.

"Sleepy Hollow" is a show that allows the possibilities of resurrections and fake deaths. It remains a mystery, however, is Abbie's death is part of such storyline at the moment.

"Sleepy Hollow" season 4 will premiere early next year. Beharie's IMDB page hints that she is currently filming a thriller by David M. Rosenthal titled "Jacob's Ladder."

It is unknown if the production of this film will affect the possibility of Beharie appearing in "Sleepy Hollow" season 4, but it has already been teased that Abbie could still come back on the show, albeit in different form.

Showrunner Clifton Campbell told TVLine that while Abbie is technically "gone," she can pop up every now and then in "Sleepy Hollow" season 4.

"In Sleepy Hollow it's always surprising to see how the reflections of one character or another can influence the show moving forward," he said.
