The "Bespin" DLC for "Star Wars Battlefront" was free to play for Playstation Plus and Xbox Live Gold last weekend. Owners of the game who haven't bought the DLC were given the chance to try out the new maps based on Cloud City, and they were also given the chance to use new hero characters like Lando Calrissian and Dengar. In the meantime, EA executive Patrick Soderlund talks about the shutting down of the fanmade "Galaxy in Turmoil" and how it affects EA's current "Battlefront" game.

In an interview with Game Informer, Soderlund talks about the licensing rights to the "Star Wars" games and why EA refused to publish the game made by Frontwire Studios. He says: "It becomes very complicated. On top of that, between Disney and EA is a substantial business deal where one partner has paid the other a lot of money to gain exclusivity. Without knowing details of exactly what happened, that's kind of how I look at it in general."

"Galaxy in Turmoil" was said to be based on LucasArts' canceled "Star Wars Battlefront 3" game and brought back classic elements like 64-player matches and land-to-space battles that were absent in the "Battlefront" reboot. Additionally, the game was going to be available for free on Steam. With those features, it could very well be a big competition for DICE's "Battlefront," so Lucasfilm has stepped up and requested the developers to stop using "Star Wars"-licensed materials.

Frontwire it still going forward with the game, however, and despite the removal of all the "Star Wars" elements, it will still be the closest fans will get to playing a "true" sequel to the "Battlefront" series. The game will be available as "Galaxy in Turmoil," and it will be a generic sci-fi shooter game which will be available on Steam for free.

As of the moment, no official release date has been set for "Galaxy in Turmoil."
