'Star Wars Episode VIII' news: To have John Williams return as score composer

John Williams is perhaps one of the most recognized figures in Hollywood music. He has scored several classic films from every "Star Wars" film ever made to "Indiana Jones" and "Superman." Fans of Williams will be delighted to hear that the seasoned film composer will be returning to score Rian Johnson's "Star Wars" movie, which is the eighth film in the franchise (not counting "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" that comes out this year).

According to MassLive, Williams has already seen an early cut of the movie, and he's coming back because he was "enchanted" by actress Daisy Ridley's performance as Rey; it's also reported that he doesn't want anyone else working on Rey's score.

Williams was the composer for J.J. Abrams "Star Wars: The Force Awakens," and has even received an Oscar nomination for his work on the film. There was, however, news that Williams had health issues which made fans think that it hindered him from going all out on "The Force Awakens."

Some fans also agree that, though they did love "Star Wars 7," the movie's score lacked the "oomph" factor that was present even in the poorly received prequel trilogy. Aside from "Rey's Theme" and the "March of the Resistance," no new tunes were able to strike the same level of iconic as Darth Vader's "Imperial March." Here's to hoping that "Star Wars VIII" has some new themes that fans could get behind; even "Duel of the Fates" is enough to get goosebumps flowing when fans hear it in the theater.

Aside from returning cast members Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, and Oscar Isaac, the film is said to have a more prominent appearance from Mark Hamill who plays Luke Skywalker. Fans were disappointed to have Luke absent throughout the most part of "Force Awakens," and in this movie, he will most likely pick-up the Yoda mantle and teach Rey a thing or two about the Force.

New incoming cast members are "Guardians of the Galaxy's" Guillermo del Toro who is rumored to be the film's villain, and "Jurassic Park's" Laura Dern, whose role has not yet been disclosed.

"Star Wars Episode VIII" comes out December 2018.
