'Star Wars Rebels' season 3 news: First two episodes to be screened at Star Wars Celebration Europe in July

Fans of the 3D CGI animated series "Star Wars Rebels" are in for a treat. The first two episodes of the highly anticipated "Star Wars Rebels" season 3 will be screened at the upcoming Star Wars Celebration Europe, which will be held from July 15 to 17 in London.
Lucasfilm has released a partial schedule of the events it has planned for Star Wars fans at the annual convention. The schedule includes much-awaited major events, including a panel for the upcoming "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" (2016), an appearance by "Star Wars" franchise star Mark Hamill, and the Star Wars Celebration Europe Cosplay Championship.
Another event fans are looking forward to is a presentation of the "Star Wars Rebels" season 3, which will be hosted by executive producer Dave Filoni and several as-yet-unnamed special guests. They will be sharing some "highly-guarded sneak peeks" from the upcoming third season, as well as screening the first two season 3 episodes.
"Star Wars Rebels," which follows a ragtag group of rebels aboard a freighter starship called the "Ghost," has featured such iconic "Star Wars" characters as Darth Vader and Lando Calrissian. It has also introduced a motley of new heroes and villains to the Star Wars universe.
In the second season of "Star Wars Rebels," new characters including the Seventh Sister were introduced, and old favorites including clone troopers Captain Gregor and Captain Rex returned. In it, a series of critical events has paved the way for the lives of the rebels to be forever changed when season 3 begins.
In November 2015, Disney XD announced that it ordered a third season of the animated series. At the time, it was confirmed that season 3 was already in production and that it was scheduled to air sometime in 2016.
"We are proud to bring our audience a third season of 'Star Wars Rebels,' a series that has resonated across generations," Disney XD General Manager and Senior Vice President for Programming Marc Buhaj said about the show's renewal. "The creative team behind the series continues to do a brilliant job in delivering on the key tenets that fans have come to expect from a 'Star Wars' property including adventure, hope and the battle between good vs. evil."
"Season Three will see our rebel heroes face new obstacles and find new allies in their fight against the Empire," Lucasfilm Senior Vice President of Development Kiri Hart said.
Disney XD has yet to announce the official release date for "Star Wars Rebels" season 3.
