'Star Wars Rebels' season 3 spoilers news: Gets a new TV spot; Darth Vader will not return

"Star Wars" fans have a lot to rejoice about this year. First off, the new trailer for "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story" has been revealed, and the third season for "Star Wars Rebels" is less than a month away. However, though Vader's presence will be in "Rogue One," the "Rebels" series will not be seeing any of the Dark Lord of the Sith.
Showrunner Dave Filoni revealed to SlashFilm that Darth Vader will not appear in the show and focus on the new villain, Grand Admiral Thrawn. Thrawn had been one of the more famous villains from the expanded universe, and fans are delighted to see that the Grand Admiral has found his way into official "Star Wars" canon.
When asked about Vader, Filoni said, "I don't like to tease people along and then have them be disappointed. So it's really an elected decision to not have Vader around because, as we get closer to 'A New Hope,' I want him to serve as that story."
He also goes on to say that the crew of the Ghost would not survive if Vader was the one who would actively pursue them.
Filoni also took the time to thank James Earl Jones for returning to voice Vader. Jones was the original voice of Vader in the original "Star Wars," and he's currently busy performing live theater.
The third season will also seem to have less of an appearance from Vader's Sith Inquisitors. Fans of the show have shown their disdain for the incompetence of the Inquisitors, but their absence could further justify the absence of Force-users by the time "A New Hope" rolls in.
Aside from Thrawn, Darth Maul will be serving as an enemy of both the Empire and the Rebellion.
Ezra and the gang will have a lot in their hands when the third season for "Star Wars Rebels" is set to roll in coming September.
