Steam Summer Sale 2016 start date leaked? Sale commences sometime in June
Digital distribution platform Steam will be opening its doors to its summer sale soon and gamers who are eyeing on certain games are looking forward to grabbing some good deals already.
Yet what many don't know is when the sale would exactly happen. According to a report by CloudPro, Steam's Summer Sale 2016 will begin next month as revealed by an alleged leak by Reddit user MrFreemanBBQ.
VG 24/7 detailed that the leak contained a screenshot of an alleged confidential conversation with Valve Corporation wherein it instructed not to post event details on the Steam Community or on any site until the sale has officially started. It then stated that the Summer Sale 2016 sale will begin on June 23 and will run through until July 4. It also claimed that the sale will have a starting time of 9:45 a.m. Pacific and an end time of 10 a.m. Pacific.
As to how reliable MrFreemanBBQ's tip may be, Polygon noted that he is the same one who gave Steam customers a heads up for last year's Summer Sale. He had also posted the information on Reddit which matched with the dates that the Russian social network VK posted. Eventually, Valve announced the exact Summer Sale dates and they were the same. He was also able to give the right dates for other Steam sales, including the Summer Sale in 2012 and the Holiday Sale in 2013. The countdown website When Is The Next Steam Sale also supported the leak date.
As of now, there is no confirmation from Valve yet on when exactly the sale will take place so customers will have to stay tuned for more updates. They can expect some great deals though. Yibada cited that the expensive AAA games are typically the ones that Valve marks down during the sale. Some even give up to 90 percent discount.
