'Steven Universe' season 3 spoilers, plot news: Steven to play referee between Peridot and Lapis in episode 4 'Barn Mates'

After an emotional and action-filled premiere of "Steven Universe" season 3, Steven now finds himself in a sticky situation as the exciting new chapter of the Cartoon Network series continues.

In episode 4 of "Steven Universe" season 3 titled "Barn Mates," Steven is caught in the middle of an argument between Peridot and Lapis, who both want to be stay get the barn for themselves.

The two do not seem to be open with the idea of sharing the barn. They turn to Steven to determine who gets to stay in the place. Sadly for him, he has a tough decision to make in "Steven Universe" season 3.

It remains a mystery what resolution the three will come to in "Steven Universe" season 3 episode 4, but it is definitely exciting to find out.

Based on the fact that Steven managed to convince Lapis to give planet Earth a try after all the troubles that she was forced to remember in the previous "Steven Universe" episode, Steven will definitely be able to help them find middle ground.

Problems and tensions between characters seem to be a big deal in "Steven Universe" season 3. In an interview with Newsarama, series creator Rebecca Sugar and writer Lamar Abrams spoke about the tests in the character's friendships.

"I feel like we're always seeing cracks show here and there, and then maybe some cracks seem bigger than others, but I feel like we're getting a better sense of what the Gems are actually like as people, and that feels really good," Sugar said.

"They always had problems and will always have problems but they don't give up on each other," Abrams added.

The next "Steven Universe" season 3 episode is also a great break from the action that took place in the initial episodes, which, for one, opened the possibility for Jasper to switch sides.

According to speculations, Jasper's injury he sustained after a whole new kind of gem fusion with Lapis, presented a chance for Steven to help him and ultimately bring him on board his team.

"Steven Universe" season 3 episode 4 "Barn Mates" will air on Thursday, May 26 at 7 p.m. EDT on Cartoon Network.
