'Steven Universe' season 3 spoilers, plot news: Will Bismuth be a friend or foe?

"Steven Universe" fans have been going crazy with speculations as a new gem, Bismuth (Uzo Aduba), will make her appearance in a two-part episode. She is one of the Crystal Gems who fought in the Gem War alongside Rose, Pearl, Garnet, and Amethyst, and it is unknown as of now why she was locked up by Rose.

Thanks to a sneak peek of the episode, fans will know that Bismuth was actually a gem bubbled by Rose and kept in Lion's mane. In the clip, Steven accidentally pops the bubble, and Bismuth takes form once more. She will be reunited with Pearl and the others, but she will also be saddened to see that the rest of their group has all but disappeared.

This was not the first time that fans actually got to take a peek at Bismuth. Her gem was seen bubbled back in season one when Steven first stumbled into Lion's mane. There was also a figure that looked somewhat like Bismuth when Lapiz Lazuli was recalling how she got stuck on Earth in the episode titled "Same Old World."

Could Bismuth actually be a villain? There seem to be a lot of suspicion around her for being bubbled up by Rose Quartz. Some fan theories have actually speculated that she was a fusion partner for Rose; the duo would fuse to create Pink Diamond — the Diamonds in the series serving as the unfeeling villains to the Crystal Gems.

Viewers can also deduce that she was not around to see the gems win the war, seeing as she didn't even recall what happened to the rest of her comrades. Maybe she was a Crystal Gem who didn't really see the value of helping the humans survive? Maybe she just had her own beef with the Diamonds.
