'Steven Universe' season 4 plot updates: Stevonnie returns and Steven's powers to be explored further

The Summer of Steven is officially over, and fans will have to wait every week to get their "Steven Universe" fix. More sneak peeks have shown that Steven will be fusing with Connie once more to train with Pearl as Stevonnie. It also appears that Steven will be going to Funland to tell people's future as Future Boy Zoltron.

The next episode in the series is titled "Mindful Education," and it will have Steven and Connie learning how to focus better during their training. Back in "Sworn to the Sword," Pearl takes Connie as her apprentice to help her train as Steven's protector, and the episode ends with the both of them training under Pearl's tutelage.

The episode gives good insight on how well Steven and Connie fight together (with Connie wielding a sword, and Steven using his Rose Quartz's shield), but fans were taken by surprise during the episode "Gem Hunt" when Steven and Connie fuse to fight Jasper whom they successfully defeat. Stevonnie is able to wield both shield and sword and has all the collective skill that Steven and Connie have on the table. It would be the closest thing that the Crystal Gems will have to get Rose Quartz back in the team, as Stevonnie proves herself to be a skillful fighter with all the powers of the former leader of the Crystal Gems.

An episode called "Future Boy Zoltron" is also set to appear after "Mindful Education," and it will have Steven going to Funland to tell people's fortunes. The plot is not very clear, but it looks like the episode will have something to do with Sapphire as she does appear in the sneak peek. Her powers allow her to see the future, and maybe, the episode will see her bonding with Steven.

"Mindful Education" is set to air on Aug. 25 while "Future Boy Zoltron" premieres on Sept. 1 on Cartoon Network.
