'Steven Universe' season 4 sneak peek revealed; Lion's origin to be explored

A sneak peek has been released online for the next episode of "Steven Universe" titled "Buddy's Book." The episode follows Steven and Connie as they visit the Beach City library and find a historical journal about one of the pioneering citizens in old Beach City, Buddy.

A sneak peek has been leaked online giving fans some hints on what to expect in the episode, and it looks like Connie and Steven will be filling in the blanks of history with their own imagination, making the Beach City mailman, Jamie, stand in for the role of Buddy.

Back in the episode "Historical Friction," fans got to know more about the history of Beach City and how it was discovered by an ancestor of Mayor Dewey. In the story, Captain Dewey and his first mate Buddy run into the Crystal Gems and land on the shore that will eventually become Beach City.

"Buddy's Book" will follow the continuing adventures of Buddy as he tries to discover new things for himself, running into the gems along the way. In the episode, fans will also get to revisit locations that have appeared in old "Steven Universe" episodes like the Sea Spire, the Kindergarten, and the home of the Heaven Beetle (which was in the episode where fans got to see Amethyst and Pearl fuse into Opal for the first time).

The episode will also have another appearance from Rose Quartz, and she will be accompanied by a pack of wild lions, no doubt being the origin of Steven's pet, Lion. Buddy will run into Rose in the same desert where Steven found Lion back in season one, and fans will also get to see Lion before he was imbued with magical abilities (even though it may not be clear how old Lion is).

"Buddy's Book" will air on Aug. 18 on Cartoon Network.
