Netflix original "Stranger Things" has not been renewed for its second season yet, but fans don't have to worry since it's likely to get a green light. The creators of the show have already also spilled a little bit of details of what's to come in season 2.

As detailed in IGN, creators Matt and Ross Duffer said that season 2 will have a one-year time jump. Events will begin in the year 1984, a year after the events of season 1. And as expected, the series is said to be "a little darker and weirder" since the show has already established its world, characters, and creatures.

Moreover, Ross revealed that the second installment of the series will also be following a self-contained story just like the first one. They are going to build a "new tension" into the plot and let the characters battle through it.

In other news, spoilers suggest that in season 2, Jonathan Byers (Charlie Heaton) may get a chance to get the girl this time. Jonathan missed his chance with Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dryer) in the first season because too-cool teen Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) swooped in and saved the day with a baseball bat.

But things will change for Steve, and this could be an opportunity for Jonathan. However, Matt admitted that letting Jonathan have Nancy so easily is "like a fantasy" to him because it doesn't feel real. Nonetheless, fans who find the two a match can continue to cross their fingers that a Nancy and Jonathan tandem will happen since the creators are considering it.

The future of "Stranger Things" is still vague for now, but one of the Duffer brothers said that they don't expect the series to go on a very long stretch. Matt divulged that he doesn't see the show go as far as season 6 or season 7. But they already have an ending for the show. It's just a matter of time when they will close the story.

"Stranger Things" season 2 has no specific premiere date, but it's expected to start airing new episodes in July 2017.
