David Ayer's 'Suicide Squad' has been getting a lot of harsh reviews from critics and it seems to have been just as divisive as "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice." A lot of critics seem to be unhappy with the way the movie turned out while some had an opposite reaction and said that this might be the best entry in the DC Cinematic Universe.

Much like "Batman v Superman," the movie sits with a rotten rating of 31% at Rotten Tomatoes ("Batman v Superman has a 27% rating), and critics have been bashing the movie based on its gloominess and lack of story. DC has been getting a bad reputation on Rotten Tomatoes that a fan petition has even come up online to shut the site down.

Ayer went on Twitter to react to all the negativity surrounding the movie. Ayer posted a Spanish quote from Emiliano Zapata which translated to: "It is better to die on your feet than live on your knees." He seems to be standing by his work, and he also said on the same platform that he loves and believes in the movie.

A common praise that the movie gets is the top-notch performance that was delivered by Will Smith (Deadshot), Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), and Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flagg). One such review is detailed in the video by movie reviewer Mr Sunday Movies. The characters were said to have a good dynamic and were very enjoyable to watch.

There was, however, an agreement among critics that Jared Leto's performance as the Joker was somewhat lacking in the movie. His role was said to be considered as a cameo, and it was not big enough to make any significant impact to audiences. Some, however, think that it's a good effort, and are looking forward to a movie where Mr. J has more screentime.

Will "Suicide Squad" redeem the DC Cinematic Universe? Or will this constant streak of bad films cause Warner Bros. to drop everything all together?

"Suicide Squad" is currently showing in theaters.
