'Switched at Birth' season 5 release date update, plot spoilers: 'Big moment' teased, series finale goes back to its roots

Information about "Switched at Birth" season 5 has been scarce lately, which is understandable as the show was delayed to 2017. Thankfully, series creator Lizzy Weiss talks about the show every now and then.

On her Twitter account, Weiss teased a "big moment" in the series, which she said was accompanied by music from singer-songwriter Natalie Taylor. The song is called "Fight On," which appears to be made especially for the game.

Taylor's music has been featured on other shows including "Finding Carter" on MTV. It remains a mystery what sort of scene on "Switched at Birth" season 5 will include the song although the song's title hints that it will involve a strong, poignant moment.

Early this week, Weiss tweeted about the sound mix for "Switched at Birth" season 5, which she posted with a photo as embedded below.

She also revealed that the "Switched at Birth" season 5 finale, which will be the show's last, is already "locked," which means that it is all set to air.

The actual filming of the final episode took place back in April. Weiss even teased that they shot the final scene in the same setting of the first ever scene of "Switched at Birth."

That location, of course, is the "magnificent front lawn of the iconic Kennish house." Because of this, fans of the show should prepare tissues before they watch the "Switched at Birth" season 5 finale.

The award-winning series is known for tackling issues present in the society. One episode will focus on racism in a school campus, where a white college student came to a costume party as rapper Lil Wayne, which angered African-Americans students.

"We are really trying to be accurate and honest about both sides of the debate," Weiss told Associated Press about the said "Switched at Birth" season 5 episode titled "Occupy Truth."
