'Tekken 7' release date news 2016: New characters added; to feature cross-play?

Fighting video game "Tekken 7: Fated Retribution" is one of the many games that is highly anticipated for next year. Although there is no official release date yet, the game is expected to arrive in early 2017.
Since there's still a long way to go until its release, fans are with updates for now. The latest announcement so far is the addition of new characters. Game producer Katsuhiro Harada reportedly said that Bob from "Tekken 6" will be introduced into the sequel as a new character named Master Raven who is apparently the boss of another Tekken character, Raven.
A crossover character is also joining the roster. Brought by a new patch for the game, Akuma is said to retain most of his moves from the "Street Fighter" series. However, there will apparently be few changes with the character, specifically in his move damage which has been decreased. This means that those who will be playing as the character will have to exert more effort if they want to win.
Meanwhile, fan favorite Jun Kazama will not be coming to "Tekken 7." The character may be highly requested, but it seems like Harada isn't giving in this time. The character could potentially come via downloadable content, though.
Reports also say that the game will have a cross-play release. This means that "Tekken 7" will come with an online element that will permit players who use different types of hardware to compete against each other simultaneously. This feature will potentially increase the game's online traffic. However, this still needs to be confirmed by Sony if cross-play will happen since Microsoft is the only one that had expressed interest it.
"Tekken 7: Fated Retribution" is believed to be set for a release for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (via Steam), which is a first for the franchise. By bringing Bandai Namco's game to the PC world, an increase in the number of players will most likely happen.
