'The Flash' season 3 adds 'Vampire Diaries'' Susan Walters to the cast

The third season of "The Flash" has added "The Vampire Diaries" alum Susan Walters to the cast. She will be playing Caitlin Snow's (Danielle Panabaker) cold mother.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Walter will be playing Dr. Carla Tannhauser, a world-class biomedical engineer who is also the CEO of a major research company.
Fans will remember Caitlin Snow as Killer Frost, another one of DC's ice-powered villains (the others include Mr. Freeze and Captain Cold). Snow will apparently have a rocky relationship with her mother, Carla. Caitlin will find her mother cold and distant while her mother will see her as rebellious and ungrateful.
Caitlin's mother was first mentioned when Caitlin met her doppelganger in Earth-2. Apparently, both Killer Frosts didn't have great relationships with their mothers.
Walters' role as Dr. Tannhauser might be a recurring one, and it seems that she could be a very significant character when it comes to the development of Killer Frost.
Killer Frost is actually a villain who goes against the superhero, Firestorm, and numerous characters have taken up the mantle of the deadly ice mistress. Firestorm has also made an appearance on "The Flash," and he has been played by over three actors. Some of them being Robbie Amell, Stephanie Corneliussen, and Franz Drameh. Firestorm is formed by having two humans fuse together to form him.
Frost also had several animated appearances. The Louise Lincoln version of Killer Frost made her way to shows like "Justice League Unlimited" and "Batman: The Brave and the Bold." "Young Justice" had the Crystal Frost version of Killer Frost. The animated version of the Caitlin Snow Killer Frost has had appearances in "DC Super Hero Girls" and will appear in the upcoming "Justice League Action."
The third season of "The Flash" will premiere on Tuesday, Oct 4, at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
