The gang is back for \"The Flash\" season 3 | The CW/Diyah Pera

Production for "The Flash" season 3 is officially underway. Cast members have been sharing photos and posts on social media to update fans on the happenings about the series.

Grant Gustin, who plays the titular character, announced the start of "The Flash" season 3 production with a selfie showing off his shaved face for the signature no-beard Barry Allen look.

He also shared a couple of selfies with Carlos Valdes, who plays the role of tech genius Cisco on the show. Candice Patton also shared how "happy" she is to be back as Iris West.

There's no update yet on Tom Felton, who was recently cast as a series regular named Julian Dorn, a crime scene investigator Central City Police Department (CCPD).

As per TVLine, Julian "suspects there's more to Barry Allen than just his good guy reputation," which hints that his alter ego might be in danger of being discovered.

In "The Flash" season 3, fans can also expect filmmaker and writer Kevin Smith to be back as a director. Speaking to Den of Geek, Smith revealed that he will direct and episode.

"I know I'm going back to The Flash, first week of September, to direct episode 7 of season 3," he revealed. Smith directed last season's "The Runaway Dinosaur," which was loved by fans.

Smith also wants to direct an episode of "Arrow," having written a comic book about the character. It is unclear if he will be, but his "The Flash" season 3 directing stint is officially locked in.

The premiere episode of "The Flash" season 3 is titled "Flashpoint," a reference to the DC Comics event where Barry changed the entire timeline after saving his mom from being killed.

It is expected that in "The Flash" season 3, Barry's world will turn upside down and things won't be the way they were.

"The Flash" season 3 premieres Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
