"The Fosters" star Maia Mitchell has recently opened up about what's in store for her character Callie on the Freeform family drama series.

In the most recent episode of "The Fosters," Callie found out that her former foster brother, Kyle, was convicted of murder and sent to jail. In an interview with Hollywood Life, the 22-year-old star talked about the effect this could possibly have on Callie.

She said, "A big impact! Callie has a really huge hero complex and she wants to save everyone except herself. So this kind of discovery of her older foster brother Kyle who is going to jail for something she and the family believe he didn't do. Of course it sends her into a world of heroism and she definitely does everything she can this upcoming season to get him out of prison! And it becomes the dominant part of her life!"

The interview also highlighted the possible romance between Callie and her foster brother Brandon (David Lambert). Though the two may not be together as of the moment, they do share a deep emotional bond; also, numerous fans have been shipping the two with the couple name, "Brallie."

Mitchell, however, thinks that the two don't necessarily have to be together. She said that it's fine that they both just live happy lives separately, but at the same time, she didn't completely dismiss the romance altogether.

"I think I want them separated and happy and not in love and not have any tension and completely moved on. Or for them to get married in 2016 and live their life or don't get married and be together and the family handles it because families as our show has proven don't look a certain way anymore," said Mitchell.

"The Fosters" season 4 is currently airing every Monday on the Freeform network.
