'The Fosters' season 4 spoilers news: Premiere episode features gun violence in school; Jesus and Emma get closer?

\"The Fosters\" season 4 returns on June 20. | Freeform

American family drama television series "The Fosters" season 4 is all set to return to the small screen. Just a few more days left and fans will be watching the Foster clan again including Callie (Maia Mitchell), Jesus (Noah Centineo), Brandon (David Lambert), Mariana (Cierra Ramirez), Stef (Teri Polo), Leni (Sherri Saum), and Jude (Hayden Byerly).

Those who are looking forward to watching the premiere episode will have to brace themselves though as the show will open with lots of drama as well as fear. According to TV Guide, season 4 episode 1 will pick up after the events from the season 3 finale. Nick (Louis Hunter) caught his girlfriend Mariana kissing her ex-boyfriend Mat and it has made him so angry that he brought his father's gun to school as a revenge.

Things will go out of control as Anchor Beach will be on "Code Blue" lockdown. The teaser photos released show a peek on what it would be like. The SWAT will be appearing and the students will be asked to evacuate the premises with their arms up in their heads. The premiere episode is quite intense, yet it's a reality of what the society is facing today. Executive producer Joanna Johnson even calls it as "pretty harrowing."

"It's something that's happening so much it's almost becoming normal. It almost seems like a weekly occurrence that someone is taking a gun to school," said Johnson.

Moreover, "The Fosters" season 4 will continue to show more love drama among the teens. One will come from Jesus and Emma (Amanda Leighton) who will be having a little straightforward conversation at the hallway. In the teaser video released, Emma is seen upset while stuffing in her things in the locker.

Jesus approaches her and asks her about her problem. Emma directly asks him if he is back with Lexi to which he responded no. Emma is satisfied and then straightforwardly asks him if he wants to have sex. Jesus is left speechless.

To find out more, fans should stay tuned for "The Fosters" season 4 which will air on June 20 at 8 p.m. ET on Freeform.
