'The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild' release date news: Expected in 2017; new weapons showcased

Action-adventure video game "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" has still a long way to go before it will be available to play on the Wii U and the Nintendo NX.

As detailed in a report, developer Nintendo is planning to do a dual launch on both consoles sometime next year. There is no specific date yet, but speculations are rife that it could be out by March 2017 for the Nintendo NX.

Apparently, the wait for the game has been a long one since it was first announced back in 2015. Fans can only hope that Nintendo will launch the game in the expected time window.

However, despite the long wait and anticipation, Nintendo made sure to keep the hype up by releasing some teasers of the upcoming game. Recently, the Japanese company shared a video that showcases new weapons that gamers can use in "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild."

In the video, protagonist Link's basic sword is featured first. Since the beginning of the franchise, Link has been using his sword to defend himself. Then, it features an axe, which can kill an enemy with just one cut, and a flaming staff, which shoots out fireballs.

Link is also seen tearing off an enemy's arm and using it as a weapon. With the addition of these new armaments, gamers will have more options compared to the previous game which included only of a boomerang, bombs, and his sword.

Aside from the weapons, Nintendo Europe also shared in their Twitter account some of Link's abilities that will be accessible through the runes that he gathers along his journey. First is the Cryonis Rune which gives Link the ability to create ice pillars in the water so that he could cross to the opposite side of terrains that are difficult to reach.

There's also the Magnesis Rune which lets the character get and lift metal objects from a distance. This means Link can pick up a chest sitting at the bottom of a lake with the use of his power. Another ability is the Round Bomb which is, literally, a round bomb. Finally, there is the Statis Rune which allows Link to lock objects in place and control them.
