"Game of Thrones" fans are happy now for the return of the show for its season 6. However, they are still waiting for "The Winds of Winter," the sixth book of George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice and Fire" series.

The wait has been long, counting to almost five years already. Fans are constantly watching out for updates. And when Martin announced over his blog that he had fallen ill after his Baltimore and New York trips, fans assumed that there could be a delay with the completion of his book.

He detailed that he and his assistant Jo acquired a particular con crud. He also shared that he has lots to catch up on but he just does not have the energy to do it. Fans poured out "get well soon" comments in his post.

Yet, while some expressed anxiety over the possible delay of the book, reports say that the road to releasing the book this year carries on. According to The Bit Bag, there is nothing to fret about the release date of the novel because Martin is already in the final stage of all the chapters. This means that the best-selling author is already wrapping up and a schedule of release before the year ends is imminent.

Fans will have to stay tuned for more details. Meanwhile, Parent Herald detailed that Martin has been sharing some teasers for his fans. He released free chapters for "The Winds of Winter" in the past month. He also treated fans with a free reading of the Aeron Greyjoy chapter.

Some rumored spoilers have also surfaced, although none has been confirmed. A report stated that Arya will be in a love triangle with Jon and Tyrion. There's also a rumor that said Sansa Stark will bear Joffrey Baratheon a son.

There is still no official date of release for "The Winds of Winter" but it's expected to be announced sometime later this year.
