'The Winds of Winter' release date news, update: George R.R. Martin still working on book; to launch in 2017 instead

Fans of the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series are still waiting for the day that author George R.R. Martin will release the sixth novel "The Winds of Winter." The wait has been a while now, and many are wondering already if it is even coming out before the year ends.
According to reports, fans will be disappointed as the book will not be able to make it before the year 2016 ends. The bestselling author shared on his blog that he had a very busy month of September. He attended the Emmy Award in Los Angeles a few weeks ago wherein the adaptation of his book "Game of Thrones" won 12 awards out of the 24 nominations.
The cast and crew celebrated with parties left and right, and Martin even got the chance to meet Jimmy Kimmel. Aside from that, the renowned writer celebrated his 68th birthday. After the celebrations had died down, Martin returned home. He revealed that he had lots of work to do, which most likely include sitting down to continue writing on the book.
Martin also once said in an interview with Deadline that they are finishing a season of "Game of Thrones" and he is also working on two books. Considering this information, the possibility of publishing and releasing the sixth installment of the series is now very slim, which means that it will be once again delayed.
Rumors are rife now that "The Winds of Winter" will be hitting bookstores instead in early 2017. The speculated month is around March, which is based on the listing once found on Amazon France. The online retail store put up the listing of "The Winds of Winter" and came with a date that said March 2017. However, the listing is no longer available in the website.
As of now, nothing is certain, so fans will have to stay tuned for more updates. Once the release date is confirmed, it is expected that it will be announced to the whole world immediately.
