'Titanfall 2' release date for PS4, Xbox One, PC: Open multiplayer tech test to launch soon

The wait for the first-person shooter video game "Titanfall 2" is coming to an end soon as its release date is fast approaching. But before the sequel of "Titanfall" could hit store shelves, developer Respawn Entertainment announced that the game is no longer going to be exclusive to PC and Xbox consoles.

As detailed in Game Rant, Respawn Entertainment CEO and co-founder Vince Zampella revealed that "Titanfall 2" will be coming to PlayStation 4 (PS4). The announcement is a sigh of relief for PS4 gamers as the game's predecessor was only released to PC, Xbox 360 and Xbox One in 2014 while the Sony console gamers were left behind.

The Microsoft exclusivity deal was apparently a disappointment to many. However, all is changed now as Zampella said that they want to bring in as many people as possible to play the game.

"We spent years of our lives making these things, so we want as many people as possible to see them. It makes sense," the Respawn boss said to the Official PlayStation Magazine UK.

Additionally, although bringing in the game to the Sony console isn't as easy as it looks, the team pushed through with the idea. As noted in a report, entertainment producer Drew McCoy said that making the game available to PS4 was difficult because of the architectural differences of the two systems.

However, he said that PS4 is "pretty easy to get to [grips with] because the architectures aren't that different." He also divulged that the studio is comprised of skilled engineers who made the difficult task a plausible one.

In other news, the big online multiplayer game is going to open a beta test run soon. It's going to be labeled differently though. Respawn is calling it the Open Multiplayer Tech Test. Presently, there is no date yet when it will be launched, but a sign-up page is open for gamers to register for participation in the beta test.

"Titanfall 2" will arrive on Oct. 28 for the PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
