'Vampire Diaries' season 8 spoilers, plot news: Emotional goodbye for Bonnie; Elena as villain?
Supernatural drama television series "The Vampire Diaries" has come a long way since its release in 2009. It's now heading on to its season 8 and just like in the previous seasons, another character is going to say goodbye soon.
According to reports, actress Kat Graham, who plays the role of witch Bonnie, announced to the public that she is bound to depart from the series soon. Fortunately, she's still sticking around for season 8 but she revealed that it's already going to be her last, which means she will no longer return for another round after the eighth installment.
Her announcement actually turned out to be a surprise as executive producer Julie Plec revealed to Nerdist in a previous interview that Graham had been thinking further ahead into the future.
"I was still wrapping my head around what the hell is in store for season eight and she's jumping ahead to season nine," said Plec.
But with Graham's advance notice, Plec and the rest of the team will have a year to think through the best ending for Bonnie. The "TVD" creator said that she's excited to work and come up with various ways on how Graham's character will say goodbye to "The Vampire Diaries" universe. Whatever it is, it's expected to be an emotional one.
In other news, while Graham is leaving, another one is said to return. Several reports about the return of Nina Dobrev in the series have constantly been swirling around. Fans got excited after hearing Elena's voice in the season 7 finale because it could mean that she's ready to return to the show. But rumors have it that she may not be returning as Elena or Katherine. There are theories saying that she could be back as a villain. It's unlikely to happen though as the season 8 villain is the evil thing inside the vault.
Fans will have to stay tuned then to find out what will happen next in "The Vampire Diaries" season 8, which will premiere sometime in fall on The CW.
