'Vikings' season 4 release date, plot spoilers: Lagertha gets new look

When "Vikings" season 4 returns to the small screen, fans will see a whole new Lagertha (Katheryn Winnick), who wasn't in good shape when viewers last saw her.
Lagertha will be back with a vengeance in the latter half of "Vikings" season 4, but she will also be donning a new look.
"This season you'll see [Lagertha] with little pieces of Celtic metal [in her hair] when she's going to battle, which looks fabulous on her," stylist Dee Corcoran told International Business Times.
Lagertha was thought to be dead in the midseason finale of "Vikings" season 4 following what Aslaug (Alyssa Sutherland) did to her.
However, she will be back and will reclaim what is rightfully hers in the second half of "Vikings" season 4. As what show creator Michal Hirst emphasized, Lagertha can't die, at least not yet.
"Lagertha's a very important character... She's been on an incredible journey, from the beginning, really. I think it's, I don't know, the great female journey from early love, children, happy family to betrayal, divorce, abusive relationships, then to a taste of success," Hirst told Entertainment Weekly.
"She's a huge part of the story going forward. There's something she does which is so unexpected, but when you think about it later, you think: 'No, she had to do that. That is Lagertha,'" he continued.
Hirst said that Lagertha is the "soul" of "Vikings" so fans won't see her biting the dust anytime soon, which should make fans of the beloved character very happy.
Apart from Lagertha's rise to power in the second half of "Vikings" season 4, the show will also focus on Ragnar's (Travis Fimmel) search for his successor.
It appears that Ragnar's crippled son Ivar the Boneless (Alex Hogh Andersen) is poised to be the heir to the throne.
The cast and crew are in the middle of filming episodes for the latter half of "Vikings" season 4. The cast members like Andersen have been teasing that this episode will be a "bloody mess."
"Vikings" season 4 has no return date set yet.
