Windows 10 Anniversary news update 2016: Cortana can't be turned off
Windows users are excited to have the update for Windows 10 coming in a few days, and the update reportedly will not allow users to turn Cortana off.

According to Beta News, in the upcoming Windows 10 update, users will not have the option to turn off the virtual assistant but only the option to disable her. As of the moment, Windows 10 users have the option to turn off Cortana by clicking Start, typing "Cortana," selecting Cortana and search settings, and flicking the toggle to "Off."
The new and updated Cortana, however, will be added with more features and abilities, including an ability to let the user adjust what she does in response to hearing "Hey Cortana." The only thing she can't do, again, is to turn off.
The Windows 10 Anniversary Update actually has a lot of good things going for it. Microsoft is currently working on getting the final bugs out of the code, but reports are saying that the update will include a more user-friendly Start Menu, Windows Ink, and an updated Windows Defender.
The update is also mandatory for all users, so they better get used to an unkillable Cortana. But then again, there are a lot of great updates coming along with the package, and Cortana can still be disabled, so there isn't really much to be worried about.
To disable Cortana, the user just has to do the following steps:
- Click Start, type gpedit.msc and hit Enter.
- Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Search.
- Locate Allow Cortana and double-click on it to open the relevant policy.
- Select Disabled.
- Click Apply and OK to disable Cortana.
The Windows 10 Anniversary Update is only a few days away, and users are happy that they are getting some good upgrades along with the OS.
