'Winds of Winter' release date news 2016: What the new chapter tells about book's publication date

"Winds of Winter" still has no release date but author George R.R. Martin shared a new chapter from the book to whet the appetite of fans as they wait for the book to come out.

The chapter he released follows Prince Doran's daughter, Arianne Martell. The HBO series "Game of Thrones," which was inspired by Martin's novels, never had a television counterpart of the character even though she was a crucial part of the story in "A Song of Ice and Fire" saga.

According to First Post, this "Winds of Winter" chapter released by the bestselling author might be a continuation of the chapter he released way back in 2013.

This suggested that it is a chapter long written by Martin, unless of course, he doesn't write chapters in the chronological way they will appear in "Winds of Winter."

The site surmises that Martin released this part of the long-awaited book either because it was very timely as far as "Game of Thrones" is concerned or he may not have a lot of chapters on hand to share.

The latter possibility elicited fear that Martin has a lot more to write in "Winds of Winter," which is suspected to have more than 1500 pages.

If this is a case, there might still be a long way to go before the book lands in the hands of readers. But of course, there's always the more likely possibility that Martin is simply keeping more crucial chapters for surprise.

Martin has been working on "Winds of Winter" since 2011 after the fifth book "A Dance of Dragons" was released. Earlier this year, he revealed that he missed a lot of deadlines and that the book won't be here anytime soon.

If the new chapter was written a long time ago and Martin has no selection of other chapters to show, "Winds of Winter" might take a long while to hit the market.

The novelist has already revealed that he prepared a big twist for "Winds of Winter" and that he will give a much bigger role to a dead character from "Game of Thrones" but is still alive in the book.
