'WWE 2K17' release date, roster news update: McMahon family announced as playable character
The McMahon family officially became the latest additions to the "WWE 2K17" roster. The trio who runs the whole show will be playable characters in the highly-anticipated wrestling simulation video game.
This means that Stephanie McMahon, her brother Shane McMahon and her father also known as the big man himself, Mr. McMahon, can grace the ring and brawl it out in "WWE 2K17."
Stephanie made the big reveal about the "family affair" on her Twitter account, the first in a series of "WWE 2K17" roster announcements that will be made every week for five weeks.
The reveals will be made every Tuesday so fans can expect another huge group of wrestlers joining the "WWE 2K17" roster to be unmasked on Aug. 2.
It's no surprise that the McMahon clan will be part of the lineup in the upcoming iteration of the 2K Sports hit as they have been ever-present in WWE and have been more and more involved.
The same is especially true for Shane and Stephanie, who were tasked to run SmackDown and Raw respectively following the recent WWE brand split.
The McMahons join John Cena, Ultimate Warrior, Sasha Banks, Goldberg (who comes as a pre-order bonus and in both WCW and WWE versions), NXT superstars Shinsuke Nakamura, Nia Jax, Apollo Crews and cover athlete Brock Lesnar in the "WWE 2K17" roster. More names will be added in the days to come.
In other related news, details about the season pass for the game have been leaked online. In a listing on the Xbox Store, it was revealed that there will be four expansion packs set for release in the game.
It was also revealed in the listing that by March 31, 2017, all the downloadable content from the season pass should have been made available.
"WWE 2K17" will be released for the PlayStation 4, PS3, Xbox One and Xbox 360 on Oct. 11.
